Perhaps the best lullaby I have heard

To be fair, I am perhaps a little too swayed by this serendipitous discovery and calling it the best - but if not the best, it is most certainly one of the very best I have heard in a very long time!

Maestro A. R. Rahman composes a lilting melody to the brilliantly penned words of Javed Akhtar. Lata didi so finely renders the composition that it weaves a splendidly magical effect!

Here are the lyrics:
Door kahin ek aam ki bagiya
Bagiya mein hai thandi chhaon
Chhaon mein ek kachcha rasta
Raste mein pyaara sa gaon
Gaon mein ek chhota sa ghar
Ghar mein ek ujala sa aangan
Aangan mein chandan ka palna
Palne mein chanda sa munna
Munne ki aankhon mein nindiya
Door kahin ek aam ki bagiya

Neele neele aasman mein
Taaron ka hai ek nagar
Dagmag dagmag ek taare par
Ek shehzaadi ka hai ghar
Chupke chupke raat ko uthke
Dhyaan se dekhe koi agar
Jhilmil jhilmil hai taare mein
Us shehzaadi ke zewar
Shehzaadi ithlaaye
Shehzaadi yeh gaaye
Door kahin ek aam ki bagiya

Aadhi raat jab ho jaati hai
Jab duniya so jaati hai
Taaron se shehzaadi utar ke
Munne ke ghar aati hai
Meethe meethe saare sapne
Apne saath woh laati hai
Sote munne ki palkhon pe
Yeh sapne woh sajaati hai
Sirhaane woh aaye
Haule se woh gaaye
Door kahin ek aam ki bagiya

Of the supremely melodious instrumental ensemble, the flute and the Sarangi stand out so distinctively and give the melody its lilting effect!
